Happy 80th Anniversary to the Yellowknife Guild of Arts and Crafts! We are celebrating 80 years of arts and crafts with a year-long party of special events, exhibits, demonstrations, and activities throughout the city of Yellowknife. The Guild was established in 1946 with an aim to provide art and craft education reflecting a community beyond a resource extraction town. Eighty years later, we are one of the oldest and enduring craft guilds in Canada, and are continuing to support artistic development and offer instruction in a wide variety of arts and crafts with a talented pool of passionate instructors. Today, the Guild has over 18 different disciplines, from pottery to fibre arts to stained glass to silversmithing and more, all shared under one roof. As the anniversary celebration continues, please keep checking here and on our social media for regular updates on ways we are sharing 80 years of arts and crafts with Yellowknife, participating artists, opportunities for participation, Guild trivia, and more. |
