MANDATORY PREREQUISITE APPLIES
Learn more about the possibilities of rigid heddle weaving by making a festive plaid table topper! This class provides an introduction to weaving on a rigid heddle loom. The project is a plain (tabby) weave scarf made interesting by a combination of solid and self-striping yarn.
This class builds on the basic skills learned in the introductory rigid heddle weaving class (direct warping and plain weave) but uses 4/8 cotton instead of wool. You will learn how to create a warp using multiple colours and discover how alternating weft colours can create a plaid pattern. You will also learn (whether you want to or not!) how important it is to weave nice straight selvedges.
Registration fee includes all materials plus use of a rigid heddle loom for the duration of the weekend workshop. Students will have a choice between using red/green or blue/grey yarn colourways.
