Want an excuse to go through the family closets and discard clothing, but would like an actual use for it?  Primitive Rug Hooking, using recycled clothing as our ancestors did, is the solution. Join us for three relaxing afternoons to learn this easy traditional technique. The final product will be a 14-inch circular rug, which can be used as a wall hanging or jacket embellishment.

Students will learn the basics of rug hooking techniques, including rug design, supply collection and preparation, hooking techniques, and finishing.

This is a self-motivated class in which students will work on their own projects with the assistance of the instructor as facilitator.  Homework is required between sessions.

The registration fee includes use of a 14” embroidery hoop and rug hook, backing and binding material, and access to a common supply of materials.

Participants are expected to collect most of their own materials.  Materials could include wool cloth, T-shirts and other knit fabrics.  Participants should bring their own good quality sharp scissors or a rotary cutter and mat.

Instructor:  Cathie Harper

Prerequisites:  No prior experience necessary.  Age 16 or older.  Proof of Covid-19 vaccination (must be uploaded during registration).

Cost:  $167 (includes some supplies)
