In this workshop, potters will learn how to effectively use slip to decorate and add texture to wheel thrown or hand built pieces. Topics to be covered will include making slip bases with just dry clay and using recipes to make colored clay slip.
Students will use pre-made test tiles to test different colours and slip decorating techniques. Demonstrations on the wheel will be done by the instructor to show the steps involved in adding texture, slip trailing, applying slip to a freshly thrown form, scraffito, using slip with paper stencils, and other slip surface decorating techniques.

Prerequisites: Suitable for both wheel and hand building potters; no specific skills required to participate. Age 16 or older.
